My name is JoMarie Tyrrell. I was born and raised in the Philippines and moved here to the United States when I was an adolescent. I am fluent in both tagalog and English. My journey into becoming a family therapist began when I was a 4th grade teacher in Richmond, CA. It was here that I realized the necessity for emotional safety in order for my students to learn. Then, I had personal events that led me to my own inner inquiry. I was blessed enough to have been guided by a therapist who helped me uncover hope. This relationship solidified my decision to further pursue my education to become a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. On my way to becoming to a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I earned my Certified Substance Abuse Counselor.
The foundation on which I choose to practice therapy and live my life is in seeking truth, being authentic, creating a safe space for those around me and being compassionate. I work with individuals, couples, families and children ages 3-12.
Personal Mission Statement: “To create a world of peace, authenticity and joy by living in my truth and utilizing my talents, passion and wisdom.”
I look forward to meeting you!
